WOW, 8 months already!!

I can't believe Bennett is 8 months old.  The first few months passed so slowly and were so difficult, but now time seems to be flying and I only hear it gets worse.  B is such a sweet little boy and a joy to be around.  I, sometimes, can't believe he is the same child I cared for during May, June, and July.
He loves to sit and watch people....of all ages.  He is much more satisfied being outside on a blanket or in a swing.  He will play for a few minutes, check out his surroundings for a few minutes, play for a few minutes, and the cycle continues.  He enjoys when new people talk to him.  His response is usually one of flirtation or shyness.  When he becomes shy, he will put his hands together, place one finger in his mouth, tilt his head down, all while continuing to look at the person who is engaging him.  I must admit....it is one of the most precious things I have ever seen.

He still has several nicknames, but these are the most common:
  • Benny the 'boose
  • Caboose
  • Meatball (given to him by our friend Chris Schultz)
  • Turkey
  • Little Monster
  • B

He has excellent sitting balance and is beginning to army crawl.  He still can't come from a lying to a sitting position, or vice versa, but daily I can see him working harder to push himself up into sitting.  He requires much motivation to crawl, but this too is getting better.  Currently he crawls best for anyone that is not MOM.  He knows I won't leaving him laying there too long, so he will often whine and whine and whine until I pick him up.
He is a chatter box (I'm not sure where he gets that from...).  He can say dada and bye, bye.  He makes many other random vow sounds, especially when playing in his crib after nap time.  He can wave bye, bye, but he doesn't always do it on command.  Each morning we go outside, as Sam is leaving for work.  That is when he is most likely to wave and/or say bye, bye.

At 8 months he:
  • is wearing size 5 diapers.  That's right, I said 5's!!!
  • wears 12 month (some 18 month) clothes.
  • has had 2 haircuts and desperately needs a 3rd.
  • got his 3rd tooth (bottom right).

He transitioned to the big tub this month.  Like most children, B LOVES bath time.  It is such a joy to watch him play and it helps calm him for bedtime each evening.  He goes to bed between 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. and usually wakes up some time between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m.  I know...EARLY RISER!!  He takes after his mom and dad.  He's transitioning from 3 to 2 naps a day.  Some days he will still take 3, but most days he is only taking 2.
He has several toys, but there are a few he really enjoys.  Our friend, Natasha, found a drum set for him, that is filled with various instruments.  He LOVES it.  He also enjoys a Leap Frog train set (that belongs to his cousin, Braxton).  He loves to chew on blocks, particularly the small wooden blocks.  However, he LOVES plastic spoons, especially when riding in the stroller.   We have a plastic soup spoon that we picked up at Qdoba and he plays with it constantly.  If he is in the stroller and gets fussy, give him "the Spoon."  It's like magic!!  But it has to be the soup spoon.
I am looking forward to his 9th month, as I am sure it will bring many fun and exciting changes.  Plus, B will celebrate his first Christmas and we get to see my family....HOORAY!!  I just hope he doesn't need to go up another diaper size.  He can't wear training pants at 9 months and that is our next option!!

I really like the picture with the blocks, the naked baby from the back, and the bathtub one. :) The spoon thing makes me laugh. I know, about the diaper sizes - they used to make size 6's, but I can't find them anymore. I like to have Zion in a size 6 overnight, because he has started leaking out of a 5. Sounds like a sweet baby you have there. :) I was just thinking yesterday of the time you had with him sleeping for a while - so glad that's over for you!!

Enjoyable update, but REALLY great pictures....I especially like the tub one, all the contrasts in the one with Bennett on the floor by the dresser, and of course, the block one. After trying to get some shots with him in action yesterday, I have an even greater appreciation of your growing photography skills.

Those pictures are darling... dimply bottoms are so cute at that age (but not at mine) :) And the block idea is so creative!
