11 Months: Zoe

WARNING:  YOU MAY PASS OUT FROM CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!!!

The time to celebrate Z's first year is quickly approaching, so I don't want to miss the opportunity to document her life over the last month.  Babies change so quickly and are so fun to watch as they explore their environment.  Zoe is no different.  She is learning something new every day and I appreciate it more the second time around.

She has been saying, "Dada" for a while now, but she began saying, "Momma" this month and it is like sweet music to my ears.  I love when she says my name and makes eye contact with me.  She also says, bye, bye and hi-dee.

She claps when she hears the word clap.
She points with her right pointer finger, most frequently pointing to someone's nose.
She pats your shoulder.
She reaches for Sam and myself.
She gives high fives.
She sticks out her tongue when you ask her to or when you do it.
She continues to play peek-a-boo by putting only one hand over her face.

She has a facial expression that my nephew calls her pirate face.  I think I captured it on my phone, but I have not uploaded those photos.  It is hilarious.  She almost closes one eye, scrunches up her nose, and makes her mouth an "O" shape.

She enjoys music.  She will stop what she's doing when she hears it and begin to dance and smile.

She mimics wiping with wipes, which for some reason cracks me up.  B still wears a diaper during quiet time, so each day when I change him back into his underwear she uses a wipe and cleans his leg while I clean his bottom.

She is really begin to enjoy the water.  She kicks and kicks and is less fearful of getting her mouth close to it.  She also loves the sand!

She is beginning to climb the steps, but only makes it 5-6 steps before beginning to whine for me to pick her up.  When upstairs she crawls as fast as she can trying to beat me to the top of the steps, because she knows I won't let her go down.

She began cruising along furniture.

She finally will drink from a sippy cup, but only if it has a straw.

She drinks 3, 6 ounce bottles a day.  One upon awaking in the morning, one after her afternoon nap, and one at bedtime.  We began giving her whole milk, because we are one month away from her 1st birthday and are tired of buying formula.  She has been doing great with half formula, half milk.

I think I shared last month that she primarily eats finger food.  I do give her one baby food pouch as a morning snack or for lunch if we are out and about.  She is becoming a little more picky with vegetables, but for the most part she eats whatever I put on her tray.  She has reached the phase where she throws food off the side of her high chair if she doesn't want it.

This pose cracks me up and reminds me so much of her Grandpa C.
She wakes between 5:30 and 6 a.m., but I try not to get her out of her crib until 6:30.  Most mornings I set my alarm and get up between 5:30-5:45 a.m. so I can have some quiet time with the Lord.  I am hoping if I continue to wait till 6:30 before getting her out of her crib that she will learn to play quietly or naturally extend her sleep.  She goes to bed between 7-7:30 p.m. and still take 2 naps.

She still is not a snuggler when you are putting her to sleep, which makes me a little sad.  I enjoy rocking my babies, but am glad I don't have to do for 30 minutes to get her to go to sleep.  She does like to lay her head on our shoulder when we carry her, which is super sweet.

She is wearing a size 5 diaper, 12-18 month clothes, and has 6 teeth.  She uses those 6 teeth by nipping us, which usually results in a firm, "No BITE!"  My mom keeps her wardrobe adorable and unique  Literally, I can count on 2 hands the number of items I have bought for her.  Some days she is so cute I can hardly stand it.

She has hair like I had when I was a little girl.  It is a little lighter than mine, but it has curl which is so sweet.  She also has my brown eyes.  Thankfully, she has her dad's small head and the rest is yet to be decided.

Dear Zoe,

You are hilarious!  You bounce up and down when we come to get you out of your crib.  You whine and yell at us when we aren't paying attention to you.  You lay your head on our shoulder when you are tired.  You wave and say, "Hi-dee" to everyone you see.  You are a true sweetie with an adventurous side and you love to follow your brother everywhere.  We adore your sweet smile, your rolly legs, your belly laugh, your baby curls, and so much more.

I hope you always know that we love you fiercely and want the very best for you.

XOXO,

Momma
