3/4's OF A YEAR OLD

Only three more months!!!!  Oh my goodness, I can't believe little B will be one in only three months....less than that now.  I can remember when I thought we would never settle into a routine.  I can remember thinking, THIS IS THE LONGEST FOUR MONTHS OF MY LIFE!!!  And now, my little turkey is 9 months old.  I really can't believe it.  Since we were out of for B's 9 month milestone, we don't have a well baby appointment scheduled till the end of the month.  But just in case you haven't noticed he has gotten taller and he has GAINED weight....primarily in his cheeks.

We started the month with a week full of crying and wakefulness, as duder pants cut his fourth tooth (top right-front).  Then, just in time for travel, he began cutting more teeth the week we left for Kentucky.  He was very clinging the first few days, but we were able to use teething tablets and tylenol to help with the pain, so overall he did well.  He now has six teeth and is cutting his seventh........I would say I look forward to the day he cuts his two year molars (the end of teething), but I don't want to rush his little precious life away.

Stinker pot continues to develop physically.  He began going from sit to supine (lying on his belly) independently on Tuesday, December 7th.  He can pull himself into standing, but is inconsistent.  He began trying to cruise (side stepping while holding onto furniture) just this week.  I thought he would be crawling and into everything by Christmas, but he is still army crawling, so I can usually intercede before he makes to big of a mess.

I gave him his third haircut on December 7th and it broke my heart.  I got tired of seeing his hair in his eyes, so i used the clippers to cut it.  I almost cried.  It was much shorter and shaggier than i expected it to be.  I think I will be paying to have it cut next time.  I only have a few years to make hair decisions for him and I love his long, thick hair, so I won't be buzzing it..again...anytime soon.

He has really began enjoying finger foods.  He gets so excited, kicking his legs, every time he sees me get a Mum MumPuff, banana, or cheese.  His pincer grip (finger to thumb) has greatly improved, along with his accuracy.  He uses the pincer grip to pick up the food, but hasn't figured out how to continue using it while placing the foot in his mouth.
Therefore, he looks like the photo below.  If I put 10 puffs in front of him, he will try to put all of them in his mouth, so we have to be careful to only give him a few at a time.
He continues to be a chatter box, often waking up at 5:30 a.m. chatting away.  Not only can he say mama and dada, but he clearly associates/connects the word with us.  He will look directly at me and say mama and the same for Sam.  He can also say baba when he wants his bottle.  He can say bye, bye and wave.  The most fun has been the noise he makes when he is excited over something.  Since he was born, I have looked at certain toys and said, "Whoa, look at that."  Now, when he sees something he likes, his eyes get big and he tries to say, Whoa.  You can't imagine how cute it is.

A few facts:
  • He continues to wear size 5 diapers....except.....at night.  We, actually, found size 6 for night time.
  • He continues to wear 12 month clothes, but is now wearing 18 month, as well.
  • He clearly understands peek-a-boo and will place something over his own face waiting for you to play with him.
  • Bath time is still one of his most favorite times of the day.
playing the tub with his cousin while home for Christmas
  • He has a plastic fish (that is a tub toy) that he adores.  She now lives in the crib and has been named Goldie.  Don't worry she'll make an appearance.
  • He did exceptionally well during the car ride to and from Kentucky/Tennessee.
  • He loved being out in the snow and continues to be more content, overall, when we are outside.

  • He takes two naps a day.  He will go down between 8 and 9 a.m. and again between 12 and 1 p.m.  One nap will usually be 1.5 to 2 hours long and the other around 45 minutes to an hour.
  • His bedtime varies from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. depending on how he is feeling.
  • He usually wakes up between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m., but continues to sleep through the night unless he is sick or teething.
  • One last thing, he will give you five on command!!!  I must admit it is very entertaining to me.
I am sure I've forgotten several things, but overall our little stinker pot is doing well.  He sure makes life fun, challenging, and AWESOME!

Great post!! You are going to be sooo happy you have all this documented because you do forget and sooner than you might think. Great job on the bath photo, I never would have know it started out with the white balance off. So cute!! He reminds me of our youngest Cody who has always worn at least one size bigger. He is 2 1/2 and wear threes and fours. Jerry has high hopes for future football player.

Ah it's so fun to celebrate the ages/stages, isn't it?

My 2nd born was also pretty feisty as an infant (totally different from my first who just slept ALL THE TIME) :)

It's amazing how different kids are built as well. Can you believe that my 2 1/2 year old is still in size 4 diapers?? (we're in full on potty training though, so his diaper days are numbered)

He's quite the compact little dude - but I don't mind since he'll likely be our last babe.

OMG - your little boy is just too cute. I just want to squeeze those cheeks. My daughter will be one in a few weeks and boy did that year go by.

My sister’s nickname as a baby was “chubby cheeks” – I still call her that sometimes (though she lost the cheeks long ago). He looks like he’s going to be a linebacker. A “high fiving” linebacker. If you’re a football fan you know what I mean – if not – that’s what husbands are for.

God Bless and Keep you and all of yours

That tub picture is so cute :O) I think you did a great job correcting the white balance. It can be a challenge to do :O) I love how you are documenting everything. I tried to do that with my girls :O)

You didn't tell me he was saying all of those words now!!! Gosh, our little grumpy smurf is growing up :) He just gets more adorable every time I see him. The photo of him and Braxton in the bath is great! I sure do love little B.

The first picture is awesome (I have a soft spot for b&w...), but I think my favorite is the one of him in the highchair looking down on him as he studies the food in his hand. Great capture!

I can't believe I didn't even see your THURSDAY post until Sunday night. I love the color and shine and down on his level of #2.

I'm jealous that you captured him in the swing b&w just right - you'll understand when you see how i chopped off his hair or chin in the carousel shots.

The eating shots simply make me smile...those movements are so distinct to this stage of life - I'm so glad you have them to look back on.

I really like the tub shot for the way your creative angle covers the crucial areas. I like to see little boys playing in tubs...happy times.

btw - i like the commentary, too. I learned a couple new facts about B!
