God's faithfulness in providing friends

We moved to Tampa a little over a year ago. For those of you who know me you know it was extremely difficult and I was extremely home sick for months. A consistent prayer Sam and I prayed was for God to provide us with friends that we enjoyed spending time with and that shared similar life styles.

This past week was, again, difficult as homesickness decided to rear it's ugly head. This time of year (last week in particular) I want to be home. It's my sisters birthday week. It's Derby week. It's spring weather (although its currently flooding---NO THANKS). It's a lot of things. Although home sick I am able to praise the LORD for His faithfulness in answered prayer. Saturday (my sister's birthday) I co-hosted a baby shower at my house to honor a couple of the dear friends God has provided Sam and I here in Tampa: Vipul and Kindra Shah. We met in Sunday school and made a quick connection after finding out we were neighbors. Since that time we have shared many laughs, a few tears, many dinners, many small groups, many stories, and look forward to sharing parenthood. They are expecting a baby boy in July. There were about 25 women at the shower and Kindra had a wonderful time. She also received a lot of sweet gifts.

At the end of the day I was tired, Bennett was cranky, but I was thankful and honored to be a part of such a special day for a special friend.

Sam, Bennett, and Vipul were off to the Shah house prior to the start of the shower

Vipul is a Duke grad, so these Kentucky Wildcat fans broke down and bought the onesies.........hahaha

I am so glad to hear that you have made such good friends in FL! And way to go you for having a baby shower in your home so early after Bennett was born! That is serious! :) Are you wearing a hooter hider in that last picture? I just had to comment on it. :)

I remember praying that same prayer for good friends many years ago when David and I moved back to Florida from Kentucky. Mine were much longer in coming, which speaks well to the efforts you and Sam make consistently to reach out and invest in the lives of others.
