Aqua, Red, and Yellow Nursery for my girl

We still have a few odds and ends to tie up, but she can sleep there, and before life gets really crazy with her arrival I thought I would share a few photos.  

Here is what you see when you first walk in the door:

We decided to leave our guest bed in her room for a couple reasons.  1)  If we have any visitors the first 6 months or so of her life, they will still be able to stay with us and we can bring her into our room.  2)  We spent many a night sleeping on a twin mattress in B's room when he was a baby, so if it happens again, we will be a little more comfortable.

For a short period of time I debated purchasing a new rocker (we borrowed this one from my sister-in- law when we were expecting B) that fit the decor, but after thinking through it I was able to save the money, stop trying to impress, and use what we had.  

I was also going to switch lamps, but that lamp is very special to me.  It used to belong to my paternal grandparents.  After we painted the room and had a few items arranged I decided the lamp would stay.  I think it is very unique and something you wouldn't normally expect to see in a nursery.

Her bedding is custom made from Miss Polly's Piece Good etsy shop.  I love it and Carolyn was so easy to work with.  She has lots of wonderful options.  This particular set is made from Heather Bailey's Pop Garden fabric.  

The wall decor you see hanging on the wall in the photo above was gifted to us by my dear friend Anna.  It is her initials and looks so simple and elegant.  Since taking these photos, I have added a small white mirror to the other side of the crib which balances out the initials.

Honestly, I really, really, really wanted white furniture.  However, it was going to take a ton of time to paint it ourselves, so I threw that out the window.  She will be using the furniture I have used since I was in 6th grade.  It is scratched and scuffed with some water damage and a few drawers that need  to be repaired, but I LOVE IT!!  It is solid wood and we hope to eventually refinish it, so that we can continue using it.  

Zoe's name means life, so we knew we wanted to incorporate life into her room somehow.  After a little thought, I decided to paint "LIVE LIFE to the FULL" on canvas which is a paraphrase from a portion of John 10:10.  I included the trees and birds after Sam and I were discussing objects that symbolized life.  

The changing pad cover was custom made by Tiger Ties etsy shop and the throw pillow cover was also made by Miss Polly's Piece Good etsy shop.

So while Aqua may not be the typical nursery color for a little girl, I am very pleased with the colors we chose and think the room is very bright and cheery.  Now, lets hope I don't have to completely black out every window turning it into a cave like I have had to do in B's room in order for him to sleep.
