#2 is 2 Months

Month 2 was a little crazier than month 1, but I suspected it would be.  Zoe's favorite place to be this month was on me.  I thank God (seriously) for baby carriers.  I don't know what I would have done without the Bjorn.  She will nap from 1-3 hours in the Bjorn and only 20-40 minutes in her crib (this did get better the last week).  Maybe, she still wants to be in the womb ;)

For the most part she is still feeding every 3 hours, but we have had several 4 to 5 hour stretches during the last month.  She has been going to bed between 7-7:30.  I try to pump and "dream" feed her between 10-10:30.  She has done well with dream feeding.  She wakes a little, but easily goes back to sleep when I lay her down.  She rarely enjoys nursing in side lying while we lie in bed (which is what we did the first 6 weeks), so I get up and feed her in the rocking chair.  She is currently feeding around 10:30 p.m., 2 a.m.,  and again around 5-5:30 a.m.

She has the cutest little double chin and her thighs are starting to get those sweet little rolls.  (She hasn't had her 2 month well baby check up yet, so I will update weight and height later.)  She is now breast feeding 95-100% of the time.  I have been able to pump enough for Sam to feed her the few times I have been gone when she has needed to eat.  Honestly, I can't remember the last time we had to supplement with formula.  She spits up a lot, but it is not painful most of the time (YAY!!  B was on reflux meds for several months).  I think she spits up a lot due to the amount of air she swallows  while feeding.  She pulls on and off the breast several times out of frustration over the slow let down.

She has started to smile and make strong eye contact.  She loves to interact with us while lying on the changing table.  As long as she is not hungry, she will grin so BIG as soon as you lay her down and say, "Hello."

Hehehe!!!  How can you resist this smile!?!
She is beginning to enjoy longer bouts of time on the play mat and has a particular fondness for her cow toy that we have affectionately named, Matilda (I need to take a photo of her staring at it).  She still doesn't like the swing when it's on, but she will sit in it and watch the mobile for a few minutes.

She finally enjoys bath time, but it's so funny how much less we bathe her compared to B.  We gave him a bath every day, but the reality is there is not enough time to bathe her every night.  It is getting easier, but I don't think she will get a nightly bath until she can sit in the tub with B.

I have taken so few snapshots of her.  I need to upload my Instagram photos onto the blog.  I have taken a lot more of her with my phone.
She continues to cry while riding in the stroller and is now crying while riding in the car.  However, she will eventually cry until she falls asleep in the car which is something that rarely happened when Bennett was a baby.

I mentioned in her month 1 post that she had excellent head control, so here is a little sneak peek at 2 months.

She is wearing size 2 diapers and having her fair share of blow outs.  She wears 0-3 month clothes and can fit into a few 3-6 months.

B asks about Zoe each morning and occasionally throughout the day, but interacts with her very little.  He calls her Zo Zo Bear which is super cute, but I look forward to the day when he acknowledges and interacts with her a little more frequently.

Zoe,

While the newborn days are a challenge you are still a sweet little girl.  Your smile has already stolen my heart.  It truly takes away all the frustration that comes along with the cries, spit ups, blow outs, and sleepless nights.  I love you so very much and pray that God will protect you all the days of your life.  Each night while we're together in the early morning hours I pray that salvation will spring up in your heart and that you will know, believe, and stand firm in the truth of God's Word.  I pray so many things for you and your brother that it would take hours to write them all out to you, but know that you are a gift from God and I am forever thankful for you.

Love,

Mom
