Restless
"Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in Thee..."
-Saint Augustine
How many days do I spend restless? Running through life 100 miles per hour paying little mind to my heart, to my soul, to that voice within softly whispering slow down, pay attention, be still, rest, rest in Me. In a busy, busy, busy society I am learning to say no to more "stuff" and yes to more of Him.

Often joining Audrey Assad in praying,
Still my heart
Hold me close
Let me hear a still small voice
Let it grow
Let it rise
Into a shout
Into a cry
So many things vying for my attention, yet few worthy of it. So many things crowding my mind that it takes a conscience effort to choose which ones I will allow to stay. Today, this often restless heart is choosing to rest in Him.

Gorgeous post. I love that last photo. So beautiful.
Wonderful post, Amber. Finding I needed just this this morning. Thank you!
This is exactly the message I needed to hear this morning and the song is beautiful. I've enjoyed listening to that this morning.
Beautiful! So glad I stopped by to soak this in today. Blessings, Amber!
Oh, this is exactly where I am right now! I have been making a conscious effort to slow down and treasure all of the little moments with my son. He is growing so fast, and I want to soak up as much of it as possible. However, all of the commitments I have made for myself over time are always pulling at me. I know that in reality, the only way I will find the right balance is to find more quite time to listen to God and find out where He is leading me. In a world full of distractions it is so hard.
Thanks so much for sharing this :) and that photo is absolutely gorgeous! I need to make a not of that verse both for my own reminder and also perhaps for a future quotography of my own, hehe.
That's one of my favorite songs of her's. I've started the "Pause" devotional and it's reminding me of how I need to do less in order to do more of what's most important. Great post :)
Amber, I read so many moms now – and so many of them of photographers – and I'm beginning to learn to appreciate the artistry. It's a beautiful verse – even more beautiful because it's not the "easy" verse to choose for this picture. It shows you know your Bible. It shows you're open to your Bible. Like the leaf in the picture is open to the sun, and receiving it. It's just a leaf – you made it magic. God bless you Amber.
This is a fantastic photo. I hope that you are blessed today! And that you hear the still small voice of the Lord. Beautiful post.
I just love photos like this! How blessed you are, Amber, to have captured this one. Blessings!
