Check out Life Reflections...

Since Bennett was born I have said blogging has helped me feel connected to the outside world.  God has also used blogging to connect me with some wonderful women in the Tampa area.  A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph one of those women along with her husband and son.  I have been blessed by Carolina's friendship and her openness to share the ups and downs of her journey as a wife, mother, friend, and child of God.

This week at Life Reflections Carolina is hosting a give away  She is giving away "How to Pray" cards.  I would love to win these as I currently have a prayer calendar posted near Bennett's rocking chair that I use to pray for him and for Sam.  The prayer calendar has been extremely helpful, but the cards would be easier to carry and they are laminated which is nice when you have a teething 6 month old.  If you would like to enter go HERE.

Back to the photographs.  I must admit I was very frustrated with myself after I took these pictures.  I realize I am not a professional photographer or an amateur for that matter, but when I loaded the pictures onto my computer I immediately thought "You can do much better than that."  I take pictures for fun!  I enjoy it!  However, I have been reading and practicing shooting in manual and aperture mode, so that I can use my camera to the best of my ability.  I have been reading all about light and set up and ISO and blah blah blah, because I can't afford to take my son to get his pictures made as often as I would like.  If I can't afford it then I will read and practice and shoot and read and practice and shoot so that I will  have a few pictures of Bennett, Sam, myself, and any other children we may have to cherish and display throughout my house............RAMBLING...........RAMBLING.........Moving on............I say all of that to say it was a pleasure to photograph Carolina and her family and it allowed me to learn A LOT about my editing software.  As I continue to struggle with proper lighting, aperture/ISO settings, etc. I am forced me to learn how to fix it.  It is a good thing I had beautiful subjects.

Don't forget to enter the Give Away!!

Check out my friend Courtney's page. She is a self taught mommy-photographer and is AMAZING!! She just started this website to teach other people how to take photos. It also has a link to her other blog where you can see tons of her pictures. I think I'm going to get the 2 books she recommended. She uses the D90 too!!
