Rest in the LORD
It's been one of those weeks. Busy. Busy. Busy. Sick. Sick. Sick. Tired. Tired. Tired. Do you know what I am talking about? One of those weeks where it is hard not to complain or be frustrated. One of those weeks where you say, "Really, does it all have to happen at once?"
Sam has been working tons of overtime. I have two and half weeks full of photo shoots. I have been working a few days (in the professional world) as a Physical Therapist. All of which are good things, but what happens when you are SICK? What happens when your child goes on a napping strike and spends 1+ hours screaming? I can tell you what happens in my world--I become overwhelmed, frustrated, and full of begging/pleading that God would change the situation.
But something else occurs.....when I am sick.
I SLOW DOWN.
I THINK.
I REST.
When I am sick, I don't view the dirty dishes or dirty floor or unmade bed the same.
When I am sick, resting becomes my primary focus.
It forces me to stop obsessing over what has not been done. It forces me to ask the question, "What do I need to do to be well?"
Then, I reflect upon my walk with the LORD. Oh LORD, "What do I need to do to be well?"

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way...
Rest.
Wait.
Patiently.
Not always easy, but always necessary.
I wish it came more naturally, but once I reach the end of myself, I rest in the LORD and ask Him to make me well through the ministry of His word, His people, and His sacrifice.

It is true that things seem different when you do not feel well. Enjoy the rest and thanks for the reminder!
Blessings to you,
Amy @ Missional Mama
Wonderful message! I hope you are feeling better. Is that your porch? I love it! What a great place for photos!
You know I can relate to everything you said! Now when we are sick it is just not ourselves, but our little ones that depend on us and our husbands too. Remember to extend yourself some grace and don't be too hard on yourself. Love you friend!
Such a wonderful message. I hurt my knee and am trying to get rest in and let things go in the house.. its really hard to do though :D
This is a great posting of God's good work's. He wants us to not worry and be patience to allow him to work through our lives.
Get some rest and feel better! I love the pics.
Beautifully written, Amber. Thanks for the reminder.
Rest doesn't always come easy for me either. I love this reminder! And I miss you and hope things calm down a bit soon! :)
I sure hope you are feeling better now?? I know exactly what you mean though as it often takes me feeling really lousy or being sick to rest so perhaps that is why God allows us to get sick...perhaps it might even be a "blessing" in disguise so to speak. You sure are busy though my goodness!! Hey, I got those felt boards yesterday and I LOVE LOVE THEM!!! I am going to do a blog post about them eventually because they are so awesome!
As you already know - that was me last week...working more than usual and completely worn out. As a result, I didn't do much this weekend. I felt the need to rest...as if God was telling me to rest now - bigger things were coming.
