Happy Birthday Bennett

One year ago today, God blessed Sam and I with a baby boy.
Happy Birthday sweet Bennett!

I hope I always remember the beautiful, thick black hair (with blond tips) you had when you were born.

I hope I always remember the days/nights spent sleeping on a twin mattress in your floor due to your struggles with sleep and reflux.

I hope I always remember the day you covered me in urine while shopping in Old Navy.

I hope I always remember how you would lose your paci and I would find you sucking your fingers.
I hope I always remember the funny faces you would make, especially when you first began to notice and play with your toys.

I hope I always remember how much you hated the stroller and the car seat your first 6 months of life.  Now, you love the stroller.

I hope I always remember how much your cousins, Isaac, Eli, and Prema have enjoyed playing with you since the day you were born.

I hope I always remember how, when sitting, you turn 360 degrees by using your feet to pull yourself around.

I hope I always remember that you were wearing the largest size diaper (size 6) well before your first birthday.
I hope I always remember the first book you enjoyed: Peek-A-Boo farm.

I hope I always remember how you spend much of your day with your tongue sticking out.

I hope I always remember how much you loved to jump in your jump-a-roo.

I hope I always remember how women poured God's Word into you during your first year at Bible Study Fellowship.

I hope I always remember how much I love rocking you to sleep, especially when you fall asleep in my arms.

I hope I always remember the endless days of waking at 5:30 a.m., because they were some of the sweetest times spent with you.

I hope I always remember how hard you laughed the first night we built a block tower and you knocked it over.

I hope I always remember the light in your eyes, when you smile.

I hope I always remember how much you loved to chew on straws and plastic spoons.  It was your toy of choice for several months.

I hope I always remember how much content you were to sit and play on our front porch, particularly when playing with your drum set.

I hope I always remember your open mouth kisses.

I hope I always remember how you love to stand at the TV and watch/dance to "The Bunny Song" on Veggies Tales (Rack, Shack, and Benny episode)

I hope I always remember how excited I was the first time you rolled over, the first time you sat up, the first time you crawled, and the first time you pulled yourself into standing.

I hope I always remember how you held your arms in the air, rotating your wrists, while staring at them curiously.

I hope I always remember how hard your daddy could/can make you LAUGH.

I hope I always remember how you love to explore the pantry, the cabinets, the recycle bin, and the entertainment center.

I hope I always remember how much you love bath time.

I hope I always remember the challenges and joys of your first year of life.  You, my son, have been the greatest blessing of all!

**All photos were taken by Billy Waller.  I decided several months ago to ask someone to take photos during B's party, so that I could be free to have fun.  Billy attends our church and is an experienced photographer, so I asked him to join us for the day.  It was an EXCELLENT decision and I would recommend, if you want to be a part of your little ones special day, to hire someone to photograph the party (that is, if you are a photo-aholic........like me).

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this post - your words and the pictures are priceless. And as I read each special time that you hope to always remember, I remembered seeing Bennett do many of these things as well as you sharing them with me. I love your little boy almost as much as I love our's :) Happy 1st Birthday sweet Bennett!

I read every line. It gave me goosebumps. Made me reminisce back over my little girl's first year. Babies are the sweetest gift ever! Makes me want to go wake my little one up from her nap and give her a hug...but I won't. :)
