Michelle told me several years ago that sorting is a necessary foundational skill for primary academics. <br /><br />If you didn't have wooden puzzles you could probably use a couple toys with individual parts (blocks, stacking doughnuts, etc.) or household items (empty vitamin or RX bottles, boxes of bar soap, etc.) to put in your big container for sorting.
